Velpenella is an annual herb common throughout the lowlands and tropics.
It was largely used by the Sinhalese settlers to relieve pain caused by sprains and bruises in the joints. Roots and leaves are widely used in medicine. For bleeding, a decoction of Velpenella root is given half a tablespoon twice a day. Leaves are used for rheumatism, neuralgia, hemorrhoids and chronic bronchitis. Leaf juice is put into ear for earache. Equal parts of Hinkumbuk (Terminalia arjuna), Acorus Calanus (Acorus Calanus) root bark, vine penal leaves are pounded into a paste with milk. Good for a better married life
